Episode 107 -- The Boys Season 2 is on its way - our thoughts on season 1 and the graphic novels

For fans of "The Boys," whether the graphic novels or the Amazon series, or even if you're just a Garth Ennis fan, this episode is for you!  Don't listen if you dislike British curse terms, but maybe we'll C U Next Tuesday anyway.  We do not care for the terms in actual life, either, but when one reviews an Ennis comic, we go with the philosophy that to truly understand, one has to dive in and experience it.

Welcome to our second cryptid episode!  This time we're talking about Nessie the Loch Ness Beauty (she's not a monster).  So yes, this makes our batting average 1.000 on lake creatures for our cryptozoology episodes, but we promise the next one will be different (and may include a guest!).

Sit back and relax with a Scotch ale or some Scotch whisky or anything you just want to enjoy (milk, water, rum, whatever).

Episode 103 -- How "The Dirt" Helped Us Remember how Awesome Motley Crue Are

We love Motley Crue's music.  Not enough to dig around in the editing tools to find the umlauts, but we love them.  We listened to them all the time in middle school, high school, college, and beyond.  We both find their first two albums to be seminal and do really like/love the others, as well.

Their farewell tour did sour us a bit, though.  They certainly did not perform well and it seemed as though, to quote Jody, "they were mailing it in."

That's why it took us both a year after its release to watch their biopic "The Dirt."  We are really glad we did.  It brought back all those great feelings that we had back in the day and has even made us cautiously optimistic about their upcoming reunion tour.

This tour was supposed to start within a month or so of this episode's release, but with the COVID-19 befouling everything and everyone, we have no idea how touring this summer will work.  Rather than wait, though (we don't want to wait until the fall, as that's our Halloween spooky season time and we aren't rescheduling that), we're releasing the episode now.  

There is a bit of venting, but that's okay.  It takes a lot to get over a bad experience and "The Dirt" certainly did that for us.  So cheers to the boys in the Crue.

Episode 102 -- Our Favorite Beers (part 3 of 4)

Back at the dawn of time, specifically last fall as we were starting the podcast, we recorded a very long episode on our favorite beers and beer styles.  It ended up being long enough to break down into four episodes!  Between that and then recording what we thought were more worthy episodes, it's just taken a while to get these out to you.  You may have heard the first two, but it's not necessary to listen to those first, although some of the non-sequiturs may make more sense if you do.  These are definitely one of the most laid back episodes we've done, so it's best enjoyed sitting back with a nice pint of ale and a shot of Malort, along with an understanding that we were even more novice then, than we are now.  Slainte and wassail!

Welcome to the manor!  Today we're continuing our foray into folk music, this time hitting on its cultural impact (context!) of the '60s.  Wow, this is getting close to Zep III!  Part three, coming up in a month, will be a short bit on Celtic punk and similar things, after which will be folk metal. Episode 100 -- Episode 01 of the Hard Rock and Heavy Metal History Podcast That Never Was

Woohoo!  We've made it to episode 100!  My grandmother would be so proud of me.  Actually, she'd probably ask me why I'm doing this and then hit me with a slipper for a flippant answer (then proceed to tell everyone else to leave me alone).  

Anyway, I digress.  For episode 100, we thought we'd do something special!  In our introductory episode, we mentioned a podcast we had been working on before this one that we were going to call The Hard Rock and Heavy Metal History Podcast.  We've recorded what would've been the first episode of that podcast for you to enjoy/mock/ogle/etc.  

We hope you enjoy!  We also hope you like the current podcast a bit better, because we're not changing.  Still, we could do more of these if you'd like us to do so.  Just let us know.
