Welcome back to the manor, as we sit along the side the pools, just outside the Megadodo Publications offices on Ursa Minor, sipping a Jynnan Tonnyx and eyeing the nearby Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster with both apprehension and longing. Partially because of the assured headache, but mostly because of the two headed man mixing them with entirely too much glee.
In the second of our four part trilogy, we talk about the making of the HHGTTG, starting with the radio show and going all the way through the 2005 feature film. Yes, we're focusing on the bits that are mostly in the first and second books, but we'll get to the others later, too.
Enjoy, you hoopy froods!

42 years ago, a most notable and wonderful being came forth from the great radio drama producing planet of Aleric B and gave us the BBC radio series "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" (first episode was broadcast on Wednesday, March 8th, 1978, which is why we're book-ending that day with our episodes). Over the next few episodes, we'll talk about HHGTTG and that human (?) being Douglas Adams. This is just a short introduction for those who don't know what it is, because after recording two very long episodes, we realized that if you're coming into it without having heard/read/etc. it, you'd be lost.
Of course, if you're not sure what 42 has to do with this, just keep listening.
So enjoy this introduction! It just means you get an extra episode anyway. Woohoo!
Coming up will be episodes on: the history and context of the first series or two; an interview or more with fans of the Manor and of HHGTTG; and our favorite bits as we fanboy about it.
See you in two more days!

Welcome back to the manor! Today we're discussing prohibition, that failed attempt to make life suck. Why did this come up? Between Jody mentioning James' family's prohibition beer in a previously recorded episode (that hasn't come out yet, but will soon) and James having just read a book about bootleggers and brothels, it had to be done.
In this episode, James shared true stories of Chicago during Capone, from his maternal grandparents that were there during that era. We also give the definitive answer as to where the term "red light" comes from in regards to prostitutes and James gives (more or less) the recipe to his family's prohibition beer recipe. If you want the whole recipe, let us know. Maybe we can do a Patreon thing.

Episode 085 -- Cryptids part 1: South Bay Bessie
Friday Feb 21, 2020
Friday Feb 21, 2020
Welcome to the first of our episodes on cryptids! Those gorgeous, yet shy, creatures that cryptozoologists go nuts over. For our inaugural, we're talking about South Bay Bessie, that playful lake monster from Lake Erie (USA and Canada). Why? Because James thought of it while drinking a beer called Lake Erie Monster.
James was so excited, he even made a map and put X markers at the locations where she's (they?) been sighted. If you can't see it here, go to the Podbean page and you'll be able to see the episode image.
Sit back with your beer of choice, but of course if you can get your hands on Great Lakes Brewing brews, try a Lake Erie Monster! (We really should get some breweries to sponsor us, heh heh heh...)

Episode 084 -- KISS: Music from the Elder (part 1 of 3)
Friday Feb 14, 2020
Friday Feb 14, 2020
We know, we know. KISS' "Music from the Elder" has been lambasted by fans and critics alike, as well as by the band and their team. Is it really that bad? Take a trip with us as we get into the ups and downs of the background (context!) and the actual music. There's almost definitely going to be something on which everyone agrees and disagrees with us.
And after you listen to this, go enjoy Valentine's Day with some serious shagging. It's what Gene would want for you. Well, probably not, but it's what Gene would want for himself, so go for it.

Episode 083 -- Led Zeppelin, the second album era (part 4 of 4 -- the songs)
Friday Feb 07, 2020
Friday Feb 07, 2020
We're finally finishing up Led Zeppelin's LZ II era with information, background, trivia, and our takes on the songs. Is there much more to be said here? Probably, but we'll let the audio do the talking.

Episode 082 -- Our Favorite Beers (part 2)
Friday Jan 31, 2020
Friday Jan 31, 2020
Back at the dawn of time, specifically last fall as we were starting the podcast, we recorded a very long episode on our favorite beers and beer styles. It ended up being long enough to break down into four episodes! Between that and then recording what we thought were more worthy episodes, it's just taken a while to produce these. We now have them all ready to go, but are leaking them out a bit at a time. We're kind of like Deep Throat in that way, but definitely not in others. The other two will come out when they fit into our schedule. This is definitely one of the most laid back episodes we've done, so it's best enjoyed sitting back with a nice pint of ale and a shot of Malort, along with an understanding that we were even more novice then, than we are now. Slainte and wassail!

Episode 081 -- Trip Review: Nova Scotia!
Friday Jan 24, 2020
Friday Jan 24, 2020
James took a trip to Nova Scotia a few months ago and loved it so much that he wanted to talk about it. Jody was definitely good with the idea, considering the number of listeners we have in this wonderful province. If you've ever thought about taking a trip, maybe James will convince you to go to New Scotland, Canada!

Episode 080 -- Holiday Special -- Burns Night 2020!
Friday Jan 17, 2020
Friday Jan 17, 2020
Welcome to another holiday special from the Terrors! We talk about what we do on Burns Night, which is January 25th of every year (this year it's a Saturday!) to celebrate Scotland's wonderful poet Robert Burns. We know, we could've released this the day before, but we wanted to give you a week's notice so you could do your own planning. Aren't we swell?
Recorded live together, so there may be some background noise. Let us know if you like this format or not! Get in touch with us at Podbean: https://www.podbean.com/media/share/pb-4pksr-a17e1a

Friday Jan 10, 2020
Friday Jan 10, 2020
Welcome back to the Manor! We left the old year with a Maiden beer review and we're welcoming the new with a Maiden beer review (almost). Beer and metal, what a great way to leave and enter. This time, you should all be able to easily join us in a pint, as we get into Iron Maiden's beer series with Sun and Steel. We talk about the beer inspired by the song, the song itself, and who inspired the song - Miyamoto Musashi! Look at us branching out!
